ABOUT ABOUT

Session 1
Play Therapy and Sandtray Therapy 101
Presented by Sandy Allen, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist-S and Ondie Chipmon, LPC, Registered Play Therapist

Co-Sponsored by The Louisiana Association for Play Therapy (APT Approved Provider 99-070)

Play is our first language. Just as adults use words to communicate, children use play. Play therapy is a powerful tool for addressing cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Sandtray Therapy is a powerful expressive therapy for children and adults! A variety of miniature figures are used in the sand tray to symbolically identify and work through thoughts, feelings, behaviors, conflicts, or struggles. Many people find that they are able to get new perspectives and insights as they explore their world in the sand. This 3-hour training is an introduction to the basics of Play Therapy and Sandtray Therapy and will provide a broad overview of how one might integrate them into their practice.

3 CEH for LPC/PLPC and 3 APT credits for mental health professionals

Session 2
OCD: Diagnosis and Treatment
Presented by Sandy Allen, LPC-S

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a common, disabling condition characterized by uncontrollable thoughts and disruptive behaviors. Once thought rare, it’s now recognized as one of the five most common causes of mental health disability worldwide. Unfortunately, due to lack of education, awareness, and access to treatment, it still takes the average person 14 to 17 years between onset of symptoms and being able to access effective treatment. This 3-hour training will equip therapists to recognize, diagnose and effectively treat clients who are struggling with this disorder.

3 CEH for LPC/PLPCs
